For animal lovers and not only them but for all the people who want to be called humans this project is heart melting!
In Istanbul it is estimated that over 150,000 stray dogs roam the streets. While many look happy and easy-go-lucky, life as a stray dog is far from easy.
A company in Turkey called Pugedon has created a somewhat bizarre but effective way to kill two birds with one stone – their vending machine in Istanbul takes bottles deposited for recycling and dispenses food for the city’s stray dogs.
The device encourages passersby to recycle and look at our animal co-inhabitants with different eyes.
The principle of the machine is very simple – it has containers for water (you can pour the remaining water from your bottle before recycling it) and for dog food. A fixed ratio of kibbles is dispensed when a bottle is recycled. The project is independent from the government and covers the cost of the food with the recycled bottles.
Very good idea, at least the dogs get some food and water, but it would be better if somebody would take in a dog and look after him properly, not let best man friend sleep out in the cold and wet, and also spay and neuter the animals so there are not so many puppies. They usually have a bleak future!
