Our planet is full of places that worth visiting...some of them are amazingly beautiful, some of them offer a unique way of life, some of them are noisy and popular and there are some that can give you the heebie-jeebies!

Keeping that in mind get ready to embark on a journey to some of the more spine tingling corners of the globe!

1. Muynak, Uzbekistan.
This landlocked ship graveyard used to be a huge lake that dried up after the Soviets diverted its water.

2. Centralia, Pennsylvania
Centralia is a real life Silent Hill. It was once a prosperous mining town — until miners accidentally set the mines beneath it on fire. The coal veins underneath Centralia have been on fire since 1962. Today, Centralia is abandoned except for the smoke that pours out of the cracks in the ground. But thrill seekers still visit the ghost town — just probably not at night.

3. Island of the Dolls.
Is so called because it is littered with hundreds of dolls tied to its trees, hung from branches and scattered along its floor. What makes this even more disturbing is that all of this was done by one man, a hermit named Julian Santana Barrera, who according to legend discovered the remains of a young girl who had drowned off shore. Julian found her doll floating in the water nearby, and in memory of her tied it to a tree. He then began to decorate the island with more dolls he found in tips and the nearby canal, which he believed was appeasing the spirit of the dead girl he found. Julian died in 2001, with the prevailing theory behind his death being that he committed suicide after being driven insane. However, the Island of the Dolls is still accessible by boat.

4. The Door to Hell, Turkmenistan
The Door to Hell is a natural gas field in Derweze, Turkmenistan that has been burning continuously since it was discovered in 1971

5.The Catacombs
Paris doesn’t immediately spring to mind when thinking about the creepiest places on earth. But underneath the croissants and cobblestone streets are miles of underground tunnels. And those tunnels are filled with the bones of dead Frenchmen. When Paris’ cemeteries began to fill up, the French simply began to shove corpses away underground. At last count, there were around 6 million bodies stored in the deep, dank passageways of Paris.

6. The Wonderland, China
In Chenzhuang Village, China, about 20 miles northwest of central Beijing, the ruins of a partially built amusement park called Wonderland sit near a highway, surrounded by houses and fields of corn. Construction work at the park, which developers had promised would be "the largest amusement park in Asia," stopped around 1998 after disagreements with the local government and farmers over property prices.

7. Voodoo market, Togo
The Akodessewa Fetish Market may be the best place in the world to fall prey to a voodoo curse. This fetish market has all of the shrunken heads and mummified remains that the indigenous people of Togo need to practice their craft. But it’s not all mummies and parts. There are bones, cauldrons and mysterious potions as well. Tourists have been officially advised to avoid Akodessewa when at all possible.

8. Hoia-Baciu Forest, Romania
THE BERMUDA TRIANGLE OF ROMANIA!
In the heart of Eastern Europe is a mysterious wood notorious for UFO sightings, disembodied screams, and the inexplicable burns left on those who enter.

9. Cincinnati Subway System, Ohio
Cincinnati was a bustling city at the turn of the century. It was decided that the city needed a subway system. However they ran out of the money for the project as it was being built. So most of the stations and tunnels were built, but nothing was put in them.

10. Mütter Museum, USA
It's the most frightening Museum of America and perhaps of the entire world. From the conjoined livers from a pair of Siamese twins to slides of Albert Einstein’s brain, the Mütter Museum houses dozens of strange artifacts from medical history. Each year the museum has over 142,000 visitors!
Each of these terrifying places must be where nightmares are born. Would you dare visiting them? I know I wouldn't!
