It was almost 10 years ago when misfortune hit the Headings Family! Bob Headings - father of three and grandfather of eight grandchildren - fell from a ladder and became paralyzed from the waist down.
Bob suffered a lot but his family and especially his wife was always there for him. When their life got its new path Bod realized that one of his life dreams wouldn't be able to happen again. On the other hand he hadn't realized what an inspiration he had become for his boys...who joined together to help him fulfill his dream!
His three sons and eight grandsons took him on an unforgettable trip to the Grand Canyon.
Together the family hiked the South Kaibab and Bright Angel trails proving that anything is possible!
Despite the rocky, steep terrain, Headings children and grandchildren hiked the trails of the Grand Canyon carrying his wheelchair each step of the way. Instead of complaining, they said they owed it to their father and grandfather.
“It just seemed like a way for us as a family to give back to Dad,” said eldest son Randy Headings.
To record the trip, the Headings hired John Honaker, a videographer from Columbus to subsequently produce a documentary film once the trip was completed. Headings said Honaker carried 40 pounds of video equipment down and up.
