Mother Earth Wins! Excellent Idea!

“After you die, do you want your body to feed worms or to feed squirrels?”

A revolution is upon us on Earth to move from a pollution and waste dependent society to one of sustainability and environmentally friendly initiatives. Trees are the lungs of our planet. The more trees we plant, the cleaner our air for generations to come. The Bios Urn, a funerary urn made from biodegradable materials that will turn you into a tree after you die. Inside the urn there is a pine seed, which can be replaced by any other seed or plant, and will grow to remember your loved one. Bios Urn transforms death into life through nature.
I like the idea to pick whatever I want to be grown as, and for families, to have a resting place that also provides a serene atmosphere.

The Urn is 100% biodegradable, made of coconut shell, compacted peat, and cellulose. It has two parts — a top capsule for the seed and a bottom part for the ashes. This structure allows the seed to germinate separated from the ashes and their high acidity. Once the urn starts to biodegrade, the seed roots are already strong enough to contact them and the entire set becomes part of the sub-soil.
After being presented with this burial option it seems rather silly to purchase a fancy, overpriced coffin. After all, a cemetery full of headstones is far more depressing than a beautiful memory forest full of lush trees. This idea is also far better for the environment. Instead of cutting down trees to make wood coffins, we would be producing more trees.

I'd much rather my loved ones visit my tree, than my tombstone. I was going to be thrown into the ocean but this is much more symbolic to me.

Trees emit Carbon Dioxide, too. Let's not forget that. And if you want to bash the atmospheric repercussions of cremation, might as well tackle oil, vehicles, big business, international trade, herbicides, pesticides, and a whole slew of other transgressors. I love this idea!
