An Eco Friendly Cup Of Coffee That Can Actually End Up To Be A Tree! Awesome!

It’s no secret that we have a HUGE trash problem around the world. One eco-friendly company from California is striving to make a difference with the coolest invention for caffeine lovers ever! Reduce. Reuse. Grow., a startup company based out of San Louis Obispo, invented the world’s first plant able coffee cup.

The cups, which are currently part of a Kickstarter campaign, will have seeds embedded in their walls based on their locations. Participating stores will encourage people to plant the cups themselves or to return them to be planted by the company.

When planted the seeds embedded within the cup grow in the ground, sprouting life out of what was once a worthless old coffee cup.

Though recyclable cups help, it says that they stop short of solving the problem. Cups can only be recycled a few times before their fibers aren't useable anymore and they end up in the landfill anyway. But Reduce. Reuse. Grow. says there are several ways its cups could be used by consumers. Coffee shops using the cups could keep a special bin that the organization would pick up and distribute in areas that need new plant life, or coffee drinkers can keep their own cups and grow the flowers and trees where they choose, by soaking a cup in water for five minutes and then burying it.

The cups will contain plants and flowers native to whatever region you're in, indicated by a drawing of the state on the outside. The current prototypes for California contain seeds for plants like poppy flowers and redwood trees. And its just not for show either: The plants grown from one cup could extract one ton of CO2 from the air every year.
Reduce. Reuse. Grow. hopes to raise enough money to make these awesome coffee cups that grow into trees a reality at a coffee shop near you. The cups will be made based on location, so that each cup contains native seeds from the area it is served in. This ensures your coffee cup will grow and flourish in your own backyard.

Eventually, so many other products can be manufactured using the same exact process. Togo containers, shipping boxes, and paper products can all be transformed from pollutants that destroy trees, to biodegradable miracles that create trees!
