Importing Garbage...Producing Energy! Wow!

Sweden sets a great example to follow!

Wouldn’t it be great if no household waste was wasted? If each and every item of refuse was turned into something else – new products, raw materials, gas or at least heat?

When it comes to recycling, Sweden is incredibly successful. Just four percent of household waste in Sweden goes into landfills. The rest winds up either recycled or used as fuel in waste-to-energy power plants.

They have a very advanced system of trash separation which makes it easy to recycle nearly everything that’s thrown away.

Much of the left over waste is taken care of by using “recycling alternatives”, such as the Waste-to-Energy program, which is explained in this video:

Sweden has recently begun to import about eight hundred thousand tons of trash from the rest of Europe per year to use in its power plants. The majority of the imported waste comes from neighboring Norway because it’s more expensive to burn the trash there and cheaper for the Norwegians to simply export their waste to Sweden.

We should try this in America. We certainly aren't lacking in trash.

Wouldn't be ideal to live in a world where pollution is a non-issue, cities are pristine, healthy environments to live in, and little to no entanglements from discarded trash injuring wildlife or clogs the oceans? We all hope that this example will find many followers in the future!
