A Whole Different Experience...Offered Underwater! Awesome!

There is a great variety of hotels around the world, luxurious, tiny, environment friendly, thematic and there's this one that offers a unique experience at its guests!
It's perfect for tourists who have seen enough beaches or city landscapes, as this floating hotel offers a room with a different kind of view: Ten feet beneath the surface of a Swedish lake!
A single underwater room in a Swedish lake near Stockholm. The Utter Inn is the brainchild of Mikael Genberg, a local artist and sculptor who has chosen to focus on "making art for the public". The single room of the hotel lies 3m below the surface of Lake Mälaren in Västerås, Sweden and contains only twin beds and a table.

The floating hotel is located in the middle of a Swedish lake east of Stockholm

On top of the sundeck is a hut which is designed to resemble a traditional Swedish cottage and guests step inside to climb down to their bedroom...

The Utter Inn offers guests a night to remember, with windows in every wall of the bedroom looking out into the water, teeming with fish.

Guests of Utter Inn arrive at the port of Västerås and they are taken the 1 km out to the hotel on the lake Malaren and provided with an inflatable boat, instructions and are then left alone.

It opened in June 2000 on the coldest, rainiest day in the whole summer. Despite that it was a great success. Not only did all the untested solutions work, it also attracted a lot of people.

Despite the tough steel and glass exterior, the bedroom room has a homely feel with a hand-knitted Swedish rug on the wooden floor.

Often boats come quite close to get a glance of the daring inhabitants. Swedish boatpeople are however always very polite and never takes more than two trips around your room!!!
This alternative dwelling also includes a sense of risk taking and adventure that tends to expand the sensory input. One should not forget the psychological term "transfer of exaltation". Roughly explained it is about man's tendency to transform the experience of fear to an experience of love. You don't want to feel afraid so the brain changes the emotion to something far more pleasant. You feel more alive. In this sense arranged, controlled fear can be very important.
The artist admitted that he had his doubts about the project when it first opened.
'I was quite worried as it was an unproven concept, but now I love it!
'Because there is a window on every side, you feel totally submerged in the lake.'

What an amazing experience this must be...I have the feeling that I am going to face my fear for being underwater for long time...I know where I am going next summer!
