I’d never thought that if I talked to a whale...He would answer back!

Many of us talk to our pets, but we don't expect them to talk back. A beluga whale has bucked this trend by learning to imitate human speech.
Scientists have found a white whale capable of imitating human speech, in fact it was a beluga whale whose vocalisations were remarkably close to human speech.

Listen:
Beluga whales, also known as white whales, are known as "the canaries of the sea" because of how vocal they are. belugas are actually among the smallest species of whales. And if you take a closer look, it opens its mouth as it "talks" and looks adorable!
These sounds are even more surprising because whales typically produce sounds in a completely different way from people, using their nasal tracts and not the voice box or larynx as humans do. To make these humanlike sounds, the beluga whale had to vary the air pressure in his nasal tract while adjusting liplike valves and over-inflating sacs under his blowhole.
