Sudan, The White Rhino Which Has...Bodyguards!

In Kenya is living the last male white rhino in the world.

Facing the fear to fall victim of poachers the last male white rhino, is under protection 24 hours, seven days a week by armed men in wildlife park Kenya.

The ratio of course, is to protect the animal from poachers as they are the perfect prey. The Rhino called Sudan and his guardian angels are wardens of Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Kenya, where he lives with two females.
... The trio is three of the last five surviving white rhinos, couple of extra females are living in captivity. Sudan is equipped with radio transmitters in order to increase safety and to localize the position permanently. Moreover, they have removed the horns to prevent poachers, who have killed hundreds of rhinos in recent years in Africa, as erroneously believed to have medicinal properties.

Rhino horns are made of keratin. Keratin is a gelatinous hair that possesses absolutely no medical benefits. Chinese medicine lists keratin as being able to reduce fever and convulsions. Even if it did work, is it worth losing an entire species?
Ancient lore says that rhino horns can cure diseases and prevent aging, but consuming the horn is just like eating your fingernails…

If a poacher is caught, they face up to 25 years in prison.
"With the growing demand for rhino horn and ivory, we face many attempts of poaching and while we manage to deal with a large number, often we put in danger our life itself," says Simor Irungu, one of the rangers.

If the the rhinos don’t die during the mutilation, they become extremely vulnerable to infection.
According to the WWF, there were over 2,000 white rhinos as in 1960. However, high levels of poaching drastically reduced the number to 15 animals in 1980 and only five in 2015. The only other male white rhino existed, died last fall from natural causes and now center managers make efforts so that the Sudan to mate with one of the two female park so not condemned to extinction species.

Why on earth would some people are so cruel! These animals have the same right being on the planet as we humans...However I am starting to believe that there are some kinds of humans that should be extinct rather than rhinos and other creatures!
