In the catacombs of Sicily there is a glass coffin.
Inside lies the lifeless body of a 2 year old girl named Rosalia Lombardo.
She died almost a century ago, in 1920, but the angelic beauty has not been altered from time.

The story is very simple.
The little girl died from pneumonia at the age of 2 and the devastated father asked embalmer Alfredo Salafia to preserve her body.
The Salafia did it with great success!
The mummy of young Rosalia considered as the most well-preserved in the world, and the external appearance and internal organs have been left virtually untouched. The method used by Salafia remained secret until 2009, when anthropologist Dario Piombino-Mascali learned the process from the embalmer’s descendants.
But the story of "Sleeping Beauty", known as the mummy of the girl with a ribbon in her blonde hair, does not end here.
In their quest to discover the method of embalming, scientists noticed that the eyes of the Mummy open a few inches, at times. They argue that the movement of the eyelids due to temperature change inside the catacombs or is it just an optical illusion caused by the reflection of light. However there are a few who believed that the soul of Rosalie returned to the embalmed body, almost a century after her death.
The video showing the mummy to blink her eyes has sparked the interest of the internet world, but also in the analogue world. Hundreds of people visit the catacombs of Sicily to admire the figure of the dead girl. Perhaps her father's wish was exactly this, to preserve the child's body unchanging through time and he achieved it, although he is not alive anymore to see the results.
