An Extraordinary Transformation That Can Hosts Thousands! Absolutely Brilliant!

Due to the economic crisis many companies are forced to limit their expenses. In some cases that mean that they have to close some of their stores in some cities. Besides the lost working places the abandoned buildings look like ghosts after a while. That was what the officials in McAllen, Texas, were faced when their local Walmart shut down.
So, they decided that they weren’t going to let a perfectly good abandoned Walmart location go to waste. Rather than let nearly 2.5 football fields of space rot and decay, they decided to transform it into something useful and amazing.
Minneapolis-based architects Meyer, Scherer & Rockcastle, Ltd. breathed fresh life into the warehouse, about as big as twoand-a-half football fields, late last year, when they repurposed it as the country’s largest single-story public library.

This is an amazing initiative that will make at least the locals able to explore the fantastic world of books!
After stripping out the old walls and ceiling, the developers opted for a very modern feel for the space.
The library now boasts 16 public meeting spaces, 14 public study rooms, 64 computer labs, 10 children's computer labs, and 2 genealogy computer labs.
Of course there is also a cafe, a used book store, an auditorium, and self check-out stations.
Even the grounds look amazing. This has to be the coolest public library ever.
And it’s not just Wal-Mart stores that towns are taking back. Abandoned big-box stores are being repurposed across the country. It is really great to see extraordinary transformation and rebirth to ghost-buildings that used to haunt several towns and cities! As far as this building concerned I think that a public library was more than brilliant, because knowledge is for everyone and for free! Congratulations!
