Almost anyone would say “YES!” to staying at a hotel nestled in a tropical paradise. Tropical vacations mean three things: sun, sand and fun. Who could say no to that? There is one hotel in Pemba, Zanzibar, though, that may make you rethink your answer. The Manta Resort seems normal enough, but they have one room you’ll either love or hate vehemently. The Underwater Room.
The Underwater Room is just what it sounds like: a hotel room that’s submerged in the clear blue ocean.
It boasts a nearly 360-degree view of the crystal clear water, perfect for watching fish and other marine life lazily drift by.
The underwater section of the room is where you’d sleep. There is a large and luxurious double bed. (And you know, they say aquariums are aphrodisiacs. Just imagine being completely underwater.)
On top of the room, there is a landing deck with a bathroom and lounge. On the rooftop, there is yet another lounging area.
Going for a dip or quick scuba and then returning to the roof would be so easy.

Falling asleep surrounded by water and wildlife may seem creepy to some…
But to others, it’ll be the chance of a lifetime.
One thing is for sure, staying in a submerged hotel room would be a night to remember. If you’re interested in flying all the way to Zanzibar (and why wouldn’t you be?), you can reserve the Underwater Room here. You may want to avoid it if you’re claustrophobic.
